Discover energy losses to improve your battery performance by measuring the resistance of battery tab welding and busbars. Defective welds cause increased resistance at the connection, resulting in greater heat loss during charging and recharging and could potentially cause the cell to fail.
Weld connections should have a contact resistance below 0.1 mΩ. The RM3545-02 in combination with an optional multiplexer can perform 4-terminal resistance measurements at up to 20 locations to verify this quality.
The RM3545 is the optimal measuring instrument with 0.01μΩ resolution and high accuracy that allows you to identify defective welding with a high-speed measurement in as little as 2 ms from start to finish. Identifying increased resistance at junctions is essential to avoid greater heat and therefore energy loss during charging and recharging.
Using the Multiplexer Unit Z3003 ensures usability in applications that require multi-contact measurements, for example when testing battery terminal welds on cells. Simply insert up to two Z3003 units into the slots on the back of the RM3545-02 to enable scanning measurements of up to 20 locations with 4-terminal measurement.
